What would you have on your island?

What would you have on your island?

What would you have on your island?

Imaging you have been shipwrecked on an island. What would it have on it? What would the island look like?

These were some of the questions young people were answering at the Shipwrecked Skills Day Forth Valley, organised by Leanne McGuire of BIMA Scotland and Daydream Believers.

Rory, the story loving dragon, and I were there to help guide the young people to use their imaginations to create their islands. Amongst the tasks were naming the island and tribe and deciding what would be on the island – wheelchair rollercoaster anyone?

The idea was to get the young people to use their creativity and have fun. Tissue paper, glue, paper plates, pens and air drying clay were some of the tools available to the young people.

Rory was very impressed with the model made by my group, St Mungo’s High School, as you can see from the photograph.

The day ended with each group giving a presentation and asking everyone in the room to come to their island.

Congratulations to the young people from St Mungo’s High School, you all did a brilliant job and delivered an excellent presentation.

Thank you Viktor Saghy for inviting me to be a part of this wonderful event. Thank you, also, to BIMA Scotland, Daydream believers, DYW Forth Valley and Jason Cotterill.

Would you like to encourage creativity in a child you know?

In my interactive Story Creating Book, I Can Create Stories, children aged 8 – 12 years old can read, draw, create and listen to stories. Please message me if you’d like to know more about my book.
